James Perry Miller Jr passed away November 18, 2021 at Sentara Hospital Virginia Beach after a brief illness. Born November 20, 1960 in Tarboro, NC, he was the second of four children of James Perry Miller Sr and Sylvia Dellinger Miller.
Perry was a talented writer of prose and poetry. He was also a talented painter. Perry loved to read and he was an avid sailor. He loved to travel and experience new things and places. He most recently resided in Manteo, in the Outer Banks where he enjoyed living near the sea.
Following High School at the Oak Ridge Military Academy in Oak Ridge, NC, Perry attended Erskine College in South Carolina. Later, he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany as a Sergeant. After his years of service, Perry earned a degree in Political Science at the University of Tennessee, Memphis.
He is survived by his son, Sean Hemingway Miller of Mt Pleasant SC, his mother, Sylvia C. Dellinger of Mount Pleasant SC, sisters Kimberly M. Lee, Vivian Ruth Miller, Caroline M. Escobar, step-brother Todd Parker and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will have a private memorial to celebrate his life.
