Born in San Antonio Zambales, Philippines. He was raised in Virginia Beach and graduated from Kellam High school. Rick was employed as a mechanic for over 30 years, 13 years with McGuire and Sons.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bemmann, wife Laura Bemmann, and brother in law Jun Dabu. Left to cherish his memory: his mother Cecilia Bemmann, sisters Michelle Bemmann Crews (Roger) and Tina Dabu; step sons Alan Whitley and Brandon Whitley (Caroline and Natalie); niece Sloane Woods, nephews Connor Dabu, Cameron Dabu, Matthew Dabu, and Benjamin Dabu; aunts Virginia Cerdenola and Linda Carrell; uncle John Cerdenola; and numerous relatives, friends, and co-workers.

Rick was an avid outdoorsman. Rick’s huge passion (since he was little) was fishing- he loved being on the water, sharing fishing stories, and had a collection of pictures of great catches. He loved hunting, target shooting, and attending Nascar races. Rick was known for his easy going personality- his big heart, kindness, gentle smile, and would often give words of encouragement and hugs to those around him.
